This course helps prospective teachers learn to promote independent thinking; encourage children’s creativity and curiosity; build on children’s ideas; start with questions rather than answers; focus on the needs of children, including those from cultures other than your own and those with special psychological or physical needs; and make connections between science and other areas of the curriculum. This course is part of the elementary methods-in-teaching semester, which includes an intensive clinical with daily teaching responsibilities.
