HIST 343 - History of the Japanese Islands

G, H, 4 credits. A2 (2019-2020).

This course examines the history of Japan from 1895 to present. There is an emphasis on social and cultural history, as the rise and fall of the Japanese empire is analyzed. A variety of historical sources will be examined and there will be a research project. This course can also count toward the heritage and museum studies program.
