REL 313 - Jesus the Jew-Jesus the Christ

This course is an examination of the context and character of Jesus of Nazareth and his reception in early Christian communities. This course investigates Jesus’ life and death in the social and religious context of first-century Palestine and the broader Roman Empire. It examines the Gospels as literary narratives that tell the stories of Jesus. This course further explores how Jesus became the locus of Christian thought and ritual practice.
