Programs of Study

Major in Art with a General Studio Art Concentration or a Preprofessional Concentration in Studio Art 

The studio curriculum offers a variety of courses that enable students to develop and improve their artistic abilities in a variety of media. 

Major in Art with a General Art History Concentration or a Preprofessional Concentration in Art History

The art history program at Concordia is designed as a comprehensive introduction to the development of human visual culture from the Paleolithic to the Modern Age.

Major in Art with a Preprofessional Concentration in Design*

At Concordia, design is approached – first and foremost – as an art form, with both conceptual and technical components cultivated and held in balance. *Concentration closed to new students as of Fall 2020

Major in Art Education

If your love for creativity matches your desire to impact the lives of others, then art education may be right up your alley. This major will prepare you to be licensed to teach art to grades K-12.

Major in Heritage and Museum Studies

This is an interdisciplinary program merging art, classical studies, history, and archive research. 

Major in Multimedia Journalism

Prepare yourself for any job in journalism with this interdisciplinary major combining studies in communication studies, English, and art.

Minor in Art and Design

Art and design minors know the value of creativity and understand how the skills learned here will be valuable and applicable to whatever your primary focus of study may be.

Minor in Web Design and Development

The minor in web design and development is an interdisciplinary program in collaboration with the Offutt School of Business.

"I had the opportunity to create a mural downtown at Fort Noks Bar of Gold. It was a three-month project total, with a month of planning and two months of painting leading into the fall. I talked with Fort Noks management to see what they'd like on the mural – graffiti, Fargo/colleges, and beer were the key components to incorporate into the letters of “FT. Concordia Art Scholarships

Apply for an art scholarship and maximize your financial aid. Scholarships range from $2,000-$4,000 and are renewable annually.

Visiting Artist Program

Concordia's Visiting Artist Program brings in diverse artists and designers to share their knowledge, unique vision, and the work they've done in our community. Artists contribute to the Visiting Artist Program in a variety of ways: 

  • Exhibiting their work
  • Public artist talks
  • Conducting workshops or demonstrations of technique
  • Individual critiques and discussions with students

All are welcome to attend exhibitions and public talks.
