Along with rigorous accounting courses, you'll take a variety of core business courses to prepare you to be a well-rounded participant in the business workforce. These foundational courses include global economics, ethics and leadership, introduction to business law, principles of financial accounting and principles of managerial accounting.

You'll also participate in hands-on learning outside of the classroom through internshipsjob shadowingand volunteer opportunities

"I began my first year of college very unsure about the specific major I wanted to pursue. In my freshman year, I decided to enroll in an introductory accounting course. The material really clicked with me. My instructor for the course, Professor Lindemann, positively impacted my decision to continue pursuing accounting in the Offutt School of Business." — Ellen Dee ’22 | Accounting Major

Facing the Future

Upon graduation, your degree will qualify you for a variety of professional positions and your hands-on experience will help you get ahead of the competition. If you’re interested in getting your CPA licensure, our public accountancy concentration will help you meet the education requirements.

In addition to the basics of accounting, students will develop skills like problem-solving, analytical thinking, and understanding of various software applications. They’ll also practice skills in other key areas, including communication, strategic planning, and innovation.

These skills, coupled with an understanding of accounting principles and practices, are designed to set our students up for success. In the dynamic world of business, we aim to prepare our business students for their strategic career goals.

"I participated in the Deloitte Case Study competition that Concordia accounting students can participate in every winter. I did really well in the competition and they ended up offering me a full-time position afterward." — Mitchell Ziebarth ’20 | Accounting Major
