The Sanford Heimarck School of Health Professions contains undergraduate, post baccalaureate, and graduate programs that prepare students for a diverse set of health and wellness positions from leadership in health and wellness settings to direct client or patient care. The school showcases the breadth of Concordia’s programs, joining them together under one school. Students in the school will have both strong disciplinary knowledge in their chosen area of study and the very best a liberal arts education has to offer.

Why One School?

Combining all of Concordia’s health professions into one school allows students to learn about their diverse options and facilitates their ability to determine the health and wellness professions that might be right for them.

Our programs provide students with interprofessional and interdisciplinary learning experiences where they discover the importance of understanding and appreciating the range of health professions, including dietitians, social workers, healthcare administrators, nurses, and physical therapists. Concordia’s programs emphasize collaborative ways of learning that mirror the team-based approaches common in so many health professions today.

Graduates will leave the program appreciating that, given the complexity of today’s world, the critical thinking and problem solving necessary in their work requires interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding. They are confident in their abilities to work as part of a professional team and realize the value and importance of a collaborative approach.

Strength and Value of the Program

Concordia offers nationally accredited programs in social work, dietetics, nursing, and long-term care administration. Several health professions programs have some of the highest pass rates on licensure exams in Minnesota and North Dakota. Most of the faculty bring both terminal degrees and professional experience, which is often not found in other programs. Opportunities are plentiful in the greater Fargo-Moorhead area for practical and applied learning through internships, practicums, and clinicals. The programs enjoy robust placement rates with many students placed in positions prior to graduation and a long and distinguished history of student placement in various professional and graduate programs.
