What is your dream job after college and how do you want to make an impact?

My dream job is working with the Department of Natural Resources and doing field research on fish and wildlife. I want to help conservation efforts so that generations to come are able to enjoy all the natural resources our state has to offer. I grew up loving the outdoors and being able to bring my hobbies and career profession into one has been a blessing. I love what I'm learning and have been able to learn skills here at Concordia both in the classroom and in the great outdoors that prepare me for the future.

What year are you here at Concordia?

I am a junior at Concordia this year and will be graduating in the class of 2022! #RollCobbs

What are you involved in on campus? What kind of work do you want to be known for?

I'm involved in the Concordia Women's Tennis Team, Habitat for Humanity, Cru and on-campus Bible studies, Homecoming and Family Weekend, Athletes In Action, Cobbers in Action, and intramural sports. I love being a part of Concordia's campus community and being involved in clubs right away allowed me to meet so many people that I would never meet otherwise. I love volunteering and serving others and there are lots of opportunities for me to get involved doing that with fellow Cobbers.

What is your favorite Cobber tradition and why? What stories do you have to share about that tradition?

My favorite Cobber tradition is the massive bonfire we have during Homecoming week. The whole campus shows up and watches as this massive fire burns and we hang out with friends and hear President Craft give a pep talk for Homecoming. However, my favorite part is when we all gather around and chant "Release the Beast." It's just so fun to be surrounded by everyone getting hype for the game.

Tell us your favorite stop on tour and why it's your favorite. Why do you connect with the space?

My favorite stop on campus is Olson Forum. I love sports and Olson Forum hosts intramurals, so I have many fond memories of late night volleyball games or pickup basketball games with some of my best friends and playing until they kick us out. Music is always pumping and it's my favorite place to go to see friends, work out, or just have fun. Olson is also the location of the Johnny Holm Dance during Homecoming, which is a blast as well. It's fun to give students a glimpse of student life besides studying (because, as important studying is, having fun is necessary too!).

Words of wisdom for prospective students?

Trust your gut. Don't let the pressures of other people sway your decision. Find a college where you feel at home and make your own path.

Why did you choose Concordia? Was there a defining moment in your college search process?

I chose Concordia because I wanted a smaller Christian school where I could walk on campus and recognize people from my classes and have professors know me. I came from a smaller high school, so coming to a smaller college was an easier transition for me. Concordia professors were passionate about helping their students in every way possible whether it was with research, summer internships or just being a mentor for when a student was going through a rough time. I was also able to continue my tennis career here while also being a full-time student and participating in any clubs I wanted to be a part of. Concordia provided me with the opportunities to grow in faith and play the sport(s) I love – all without having to sacrifice my grades.
