What is your dream job after college and how do you want to make an impact?
I wish I knew what my dream job was, but I am still trying to figure that out. Fortunately, Concordia's core curriculum and variety of classes allows time to figure out what I really want to do. I'm also not sure where I see myself working, but definitely somewhere that I can interact with others and help people. I really don't know what I will end up doing, but I know that Concordia will do a great job of setting me up for any career. The Career Center on campus can also be helpful to Cobbers in finding good job options. The Cobber network is another great resource when looking at jobs because Concordia alumni generally want to help out one another however they can.
What year are you here at Concordia?
I'm a sophomore here at Concordia expecting to graduate in 2023.
What are you involved in on campus? What kind of work do you want to be known for?
I'm involved in residence life on campus as an RA in Hallett. It has been tons of fun this year and it's super rewarding to see everything the freshmen are learning. I have really enjoyed decorating my floor and doing the best I could to make the new residents feel welcome. I am involved in the Women in Business club, which is a great way to get to know others, learn about different careers, and help out in the community. I also participate in intramural volleyball, which is so much fun and a great way to exercise and release stress. I want to be known for doing things to help others as well as finding fun ways to get people involved on campus.
What is your favorite Cobber tradition and why? What stories do you have to share about that tradition?
My favorite Concordia tradition is the Cobber rings. I don't have any personal stories because I don't have a ring yet, but they are a great way to bring Cobbers together. I have seen people in my hometown with Cobber rings and it's always a great way to spark a conversation. My favorite Cobber tradition that I have participated in is all the Homecoming events. It is so much fun to attend all the events like the Homecoming dance, coronation, football game, and the activities for Cobb Hobb Nobb. Even with the limitations of gatherings this year, they still found ways to make Homecoming fun for everyone. They held virtual trivia, outdoor tie-dying, and more – all of which I greatly enjoyed.
Tell us your favorite stop on tour and why it's your favorite. Why do you connect with the space?
I have two favorite tour stops. My first spot is Prexy's Pond. I like seeing the reflection of the sun in the water, especially early in the morning. I also like sitting in the Adirondack chairs and doing my homework by the pond. My other favorite spot on tour is the Offutt School of Business. They have loads of classrooms and study rooms available for students to use. I've spent lots of time (and late nights) in those rooms. I've also had movie nights, game nights, and snack sessions in these areas. The OSB is a great place to focus more and get some homework done, which is why it's another one of my favorite spots.
Words of wisdom for prospective students?
Definitely follow your heart. Whatever college you pick, you want it to feel right. Make sure to look into the area around campus as well – do they have fun things to do, good restaurants, and is it a good fit for you?
Why did you choose Concordia? Was there a defining moment in your college search process?
I chose Concordia because of the relationships you are able to build here. When I was on my tours of campus I really liked how everyone waved to each other. I also like the size, the layout of campus, and the F-M area. Something about Concordia just felt like the best for me compared to other schools. I love the community that I feel just walking to class, at different sports games, and during any conversation with another student or a faculty member.
What does it mean to be a Cobber in one word?
Community
