Nancy Mahlen is a Great Plains native who currently works full time for the State of North Dakota as an information technology specialist in NDIT-EduTech. Her enthusiasm for teaching started in graduate school where she enjoyed the challenge of inspiring interest in STEM and technology among students majoring in other subjects. After completing her Ph.D. in geoscience, she earned a Master of Education degree and taught high school science and technology for four years before teaching at the college level in upstate New York. Continued interest in computer science/cyber security brought Nancy to Fargo, where she is engaging in efforts to promote computer science in K-12 schools — and serving as an adjunct faculty member at Concordia College. Nancy is excited to promote computer science/cyber security in schools and to continue her lifelong journey in STEM education.
