A Commitment to Diversity

For 125 years, Concordia College has educated young men and women to engage in thoughtful and informed influence on the affairs of the world. The college is proud to say that in its continual recommitment to this mission, it has now established the Office of Diversity and has hired a Chief Diversity Officer and a Diversity Coordinator for the practical and conceptual work we need to undertake in order to ensure that, when they arrive on our campus, our students encounter among each other, in the faculty and staff, and in the curriculum, the range of cultures, identities, experiences and perspectives that they will live among after graduation.

As a global liberal arts college of the church, Concordia will work with commitment and principle to strengthen access to the benefits of our existing educational and cultural programs. And at the same time, we also understand that to succeed in this goal, Concordia College will need to connect with new and diverse, communities as it re-examines and revises its internal practices, educates itself, cultivates new skills, and creates and supports diversity in all areas of college life. In addition to becoming a fuller example of equity and inclusion, we desire to embody the excellence that arises when our people, courses, ideas, and common life include a broader variety of human experience.

We undertake this commitment with eyes wide open to the distance yet to be traveled toward our goals. But we know Concordia’s strengths and its people, and we are confident that it has never been more important for the college to discover its future in the futures of the diversity of students who will be joining us in the next decades. We have much to offer, and much to learn.
