Reverend Soren G. Hauge was born in Gloppen, Norway, in 1875. He emigrated at the age of 15 years to the United States, graduating from Augustana College (Canton, SD) and attended Luther Seminary. After being ordained, he received a call to the Hawley (MN) Lutheran Parish in 1900, where his pastoral ministry to five congregations lasted until 1954. During that time he served on Concordia's Board of Directors (1901-1914), its Board of Trustees (1917-1928), and again its Board of Directors (1928-1951). Soli Deo Gloria.
The Reverend S. G. Hauge Memorial Endowed Scholarship is awarded by the Office of Financial Aid to two students in their junior or senior year, with first preference to pre-seminary students, second preference to students pursuing a religion major or minor, and third preference for students pursuing a Faith and Leadership concentration. Selection will also be based on scholastic achievement.
