String Preparatory Program
Our program offers weekly private lessons with Concordia College string students, selected and mentored by the Concordia string faculty, at a reasonable cost to the preparatory program student. The teachers selected to teach through this program have gone through an interview process and will be mentored closely by the faculty.
We aim to provide young string students the opportunity to gain insight into current postsecondary education, whether they wish to study music or pursue other academic interests. Interested adults may also participate.
We will be offering lessons throughout the 2022-23 school year. For the health and safety of our prep program students and teachers, safety protocols will be in place in accordance with Concordia College, MDH and the CDC.
Private Lessons
One-on-one instruction by top-notch Concordia College music students passionate about music and music education. The Concordia string faculty will mentor the prep teachers.
Chamber Music
Students will play in a small group (organized by the faculty). This is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, develop communication skills, and enhance musicianship.
Fiddle Classes
An opportunity to study with a professional fiddler – learn new tunes, as well as develop the ability to play by ear and improvise.
Masterclasses
Receive instruction from one of the Concordia string faculty in a group setting – a great chance to learn from peers and learn new practice techniques.
Recitals
Perform for family and friends in the beautiful acoustic Christiansen Recital Hall in the Hvidsten Hall of Music.
