125th Anniversary Exhibition Open at Hjemkomst

The exhibit opens Wednesday, March 15, and runs through Saturday, June 10. Lisa Sjoberg, Concordia archivist, created the exhibit with the help of campus collaborators. Sjoberg says people enjoyed working through history when the exhibit was displayed on campus and hopes people from the community will be engaged as well. “The community liked the digital components,” Sjoberg says, “especially interacting with the timeline and the map.”

A public reception will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Hjemkomst Center. The reception is free to HCSCC members and active Concordia students, staff and faculty. Cobber alumni will be admitted for $5 and regular admission applies to the general public. Refreshments will be served.

This exhibition, curated by faculty and students in the heritage and museum studies program, celebrates the history of Concordia College, honoring the people, places, traditions, and stories that have shaped the institution since 1891. Concordia’s history and heritage will be shared through a variety of mediums including text panels, films, interactive digital components, material objects, and fun photo ops for all ages.

Gallery hours are available on the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County website.
