Accounting for Success

Two Cobber alumni named to Accounting Today's Top 100 Most Influential People.

Accounting Today's Top 100 Most Influential People in accounting list is full of important people – President Barack Obama even has a place. Included in this list are two leaders in accounting, Jay Hanson '79 and Stan Mork '78, who both got their start at Concordia.

After graduating from Concordia with a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting and mathematics, Hanson worked with McGladrey & Pullen for 32 years before his appointment as one of five members of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. He has served as a member of the Emerging Issues Task Force of the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Financial Reporting Executive Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Hanson also has met with Concordia students when they visit Washington, D.C., as a part of Dr. Al Kagan's May Seminar.

Mork graduated from Concordia with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is currently president of the Information Technology Alliance, an association that offers technology-related amenities and products. Under his leadership, ITA is gaining more members. Before joining ITA, Mork served for nearly 30 years at McGladrey & Pullen in technology consulting. He also made the Accounting Today Top 100 list in 2014.
