Concordia Launches Programs for Executive Advancement

Responding to workforce data, the college interviewed dozens of chief executives from regional businesses to determine the most critical needs.

“The overwhelming response was the need to retain and advance their already strong managerial talent to the next level through executive professional development,” says K. Brewer Doran, dean of the Offutt School of Business at Concordia.

The new program, administered through the Offutt School of Business, will start with seven two- to three-day courses and will be taught by a combination of academic and industry experts recruited from Concordia and across the nation. Courses range from “High Impact Problem-Solving” to “Preparing for Executive Leadership.”

CEOs such as Vern Dosch know the benefit of putting time and resources into a company’s workforce. Dosch is the CEO of NISC (National Information Solutions Cooperative), a nationally recognized information technology company based in Bismarck, N.D., and the author of “Wired Differently,” a book based on servant leadership.

"At NISC, we hire driven, intelligent employees who have an aptitude to learn," Dosch says. "We invest in them and build their skills and abilities with opportunities like the Concordia executive leadership program."

In addition to expanding their skillsets, participants will have the opportunity to join a new cross-industry peer group to confer with when evaluating and working through complex management issues.

“The Executive Education program was designed for the needs of aspiring executives,” Doran says. “Through intensive, face-to-face discussions focusing on practical application and personal post-course coaching, these managers hone their skills and prepare themselves to positively impact their organizations.

The first course begins in May with offerings throughout the year. For more information, there will be 20-minute lunchtime webinar discussions of the Executive Education program at noon from Monday, March 27, through Friday, March 31, at https://cord.adobeconnect.com/concordiaexeced/.
