Concordia to Offer Chartered Market Technician Test Prep Course

The program will be offered online but in a live, interactive format through the college’s Offutt School of Business. The new program is an excellent fit with the business school’s finance program.

“Due to the rapid growth of the finance major, in which the curriculum is based upon the CFA, we are pleased to announce an additional focus on technical analysis. Focused studies for the CMT will accomplish that," says Chris Mason, associate professor of finance.

Participants will take seven two-hour online courses beginning March 23 in preparation for the Level I exam April 27-29, 2017. Preparation for Levels II and III will take place in fall 2017 and all three levels will be offered again in spring 2018. Class sizes are limited to 25 participants and come with a guarantee: if a participant successfully finishes the course but does not pass the exam, they can retake the course for free.

Shelley Moen, senior market strategist at Vermilion Technical Research, will teach the classes. Moen is responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly domestic and international surveillance and research report/idea generation for both short- and long-term investors on both the long and short sides of the market.

“I'm very excited to roll out the CMT training. We have a great relationship with Vermilion Technical Research and having Shelley lead the course is a natural," Mason says.
