Finance in Switzerland

Classmates and former business majors David Pederson ’64 (left) and O. Jeffry “Jeff” Olson ’64 (right) are pictured at a historic site in Geneva Old Town, Switzerland.

Pederson, a retired businessman and college donor from Dawson, Minn., and Olson, a former member of the Board of Regents and campaign volunteer leader from Spicer, Minn., along with senior gift planner John Pierce '65, West Fargo, N.D., spent a week in Switzerland with an Offutt School of Business finance class.

Christopher Mason, associate professor of finance, took 13 students from his finance class and a few others on an eight-day journey to Switzerland during midsemester break in October.

Every academic year, the finance class takes a one-week Exploration Seminar. During the odd years, students spend a week in Zurich for the Business and Commerce in Switzerland seminar. During the even years, they spend a week in Hong Kong. The students meet business executives, newer employees and interview for summer internships with companies such as UBS, Thomson Reuters, Zurich Insurance, Miller Coors, Intel, Rabobank and Deutsche Bank.
