“Making connections with people is my passion,” she says.
A psychology major, Campbell comes from a musical Cobber family and when the family – grandparents included – gets together, they become a brass ensemble that plays in church or just for fun in their home basement.
One of Campbell’s favorite activities is leading Orientation for first-year students at Concordia.
“We spend a full week together to help them feel welcome and to prepare them for the college experience,” she says. “It’s really about helping people feel comfortable in a new place and to set them up to be a success. We help students get rid of their anxieties by taking all the new things one step at a time.”
Campbell intends to become a family and marriage therapy counselor. She’s already tested the waters as a counselor at Inspiration Point Christian Camp and Retreat Center.
“I invested so much time, heart, energy and thought into every kid I met during two summers at Inspiration Point,” she says. “I put my trust in God to use me the best way possible every day.”
Campbell’s next adventure will be a mission trip to Ecuador. She’ll be part of a team led by Fargo-Moorhead physicians who volunteer their skills and energy at an orphanage.
“We’ll do some service work to help improve their living conditions and do a lot of interaction with the kids, including witnessing our faith,” she says. “And, I’ll get to try out my Spanish speaking.”
As someone shaped by faith and family, Campbell values her time in The Concordia Band, where she plays the trombone.
“Rehearsal every day is a time of reflection and expression for me,” she says. “Band is truly about being a family here. I’m spending time with people you want to be around. I love being connected with such a positive, hardworking culture.”
