The tree is in the front yard of the President’s Residence where she lived during her tenure from 2004 to 2010.
“She left this place and so many lives fundamentally better,” said Jordan Sing ’09, who was president of the Student Government Association when Jolicoeur was president of the college. “She brought candor and care and passion to our campus.”
Jolicoeur’s husband, Mike Doyle, and daughter, Jessica Rich, attended the dedication, which honored her memory and celebrated the community she created.
“Most of us don’t need a tree to spark any memory,” said the Rev. Tim Megorden. “But we encourage this to become a place of storytelling and sharing.”
A student vocal group performed a work composed by Emily Feld ’15.
President William J. Craft reminded the audience of Jolicoeur’s call to shed our militant modesty.
“Now every morning and every evening, Anne and I will look upon this tree and think of the legacy she has left,” he said.
