Dr. Eric Eliason

Data Projects Coordinator Institutional Effectiveness

Dr. Eric Eliason began his duties as vice president for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College, on Aug. 1, 2013. He concluded his term in Academic Affairs on May 31, 2021.

Eliason previously served as professor of English at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minn., where he was on the faculty from 1989 to 2013. He served as interim dean of the faculty from 2005 to 2007, and then as academic dean from 2007 to 2009.

A specialist in 14th-century British literature, Eliason has twice been formally recognized for his excellence in teaching.

At Gustavus, he led major projects to successful conclusions, including the new social science building. In 2011, he served as program director and instructor in Gustavus' Semester in Sweden program.

Eliason is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Augustana College (Ill.) with majors in English, mathematics, and computer science. He earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in English language and literature from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.
