How will this change affect what returning students pay?

For continuing students, the process of paying your bill at Concordia next year will be very much the same – just with a new tuition amount. Continuing students will have their financial aid packages adjusted to reflect the new tuition pricing for the 2021-22 academic year. In total, all continuing students will pay the same as their net tuition cost in the current year – plus a limited inflationary increase of $800. The Fall 2021 tuition increase is roughly half of the average tuition increases over the past four years.

Also, Concordia will limit tuition increases in academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24 to $1,000 or less. This limitation in tuition increases will benefit continuing students by reducing overall college costs and regulating the need for increased student loans.

Will new students pay less than returning students?

It’s important to recognize that most students pay a different amount of tuition each year given differences in academic scholarships and grants, family income, and need-based financial aid.

On average, all new classes of incoming students pay a bit less than returning students because scholarships and grants that are awarded to continuing students generally stay level from year to year, while tuition rises gradually over that same time.

What will happen to the scholarship(s) and grants that I currently have?

Amounts will be reduced relative to our new tuition price so current students and families pay the same net tuition price they paid in 2020-21 plus an $800 inflationary increase.

Will every student now pay $27,500?

No. Concordia will continue to award financial aid at varying levels depending on financial need and eligibility for merit scholarships. Throughout its history, the college has provided students with substantial financial aid in order to preserve access to the college and manage college costs. Concordia will continue to do so.

Will other fees go up?

The student activity fee and the fee for technology will remain the same for the 2021-22 academic year.

What will my total cost be?

Cost and financial aid vary for each student at Concordia. The net cost to each student is dependent on eligibility for academic merit scholarships, family income, and financial need. All students seeking financial aid should complete the FAFSA form. The Office of Financial Aid at Concordia will be working with both continuing and new students all throughout the current year to determine the net costs for students in academic year 2021-22.

Will Concordia still offer financial aid?

Yes! Concordia College will continue to offer qualified students both need-based and merit-based financial aid to help meet and manage college costs.

What’s next?

Students should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. Financial aid award notices for current students will be sent starting in late fall to allow for the new pricing model to be fully understood and how aid packages will be affected. The new and revised financial aid packages for academic year 2022-23 will be awarded under the new tuition rate. Concordia’s FAFSA code is 002346.
