English / Communication Arts Education

The English Education major prepares students to teach English and Communication Arts in grades 5-12. In addition to taking the required classes, students must also participate in two co-curricular activities approved by the department in advance.

Students should complete their world language core requirement in the first year, if possible.

Students with transfer credit for ENG 150 should consult with their advisors before enrolling in ENG 160 or ENG 165.

Environmental and Sustainability Studies

ENVIRONMENTAL & SUSTAINABILITY STUDIES (Sustainability Concentration)

Since a number of the requirements in the interdisciplinary Environmental and Sustainability Studies program also count as core curricular requirements, students and advisors should strategize how they navigate the core requirements. The Math (K) requirement can be met by taking Math 205, which counts in the Science and Sustainability Studies concentrations. The course is also recommended for students in other concentrations. In addition, the following core requirement areas can be met by courses offered in the program:  N, S, R, H, U, G, J, and PEAK.

If students are unable to get into ENVR 103 in the Fall, consider other math or science course ESC 302, MATH 205, or PSYC 230; then they should take ENVR 103 in the Spring.

In Spring Semester, they should take ENVR 103 if not taken in the Fall. If ENVR 103 was taken, they should consider MATH 205 or PSYC 230, BUS 201.
